International Forum on Food and Nutrition

The International Forum on Food and Nutrition, organized by the Barilla Center for Food and Nutrion (BCFN) in partnership with the Centre for European Policy Studies (CEPS) and the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network (UN SDSN) shared ideas and experiences in ways that inspire new partnerships and innovative solutions to the world’s most pressing challenges.

  • Every year, the BCFN Foundation organises the International Forum on Food and Nutrition: an event founded to provide an open space for interdisciplinary discussion on issues of nutrition and sustainability.
  • Experts, international opinion-makers and young research fellows meet in an event founded to share evidence, scientific data and best practices, with the goal of creating a model of sustainable food to reach the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

  • Faris Farrag Founder and CEO Bustan Aquaponics

    Faris Farrag is the founder of Bustan Aquaponics, the first commercial aquaponics farm established in Egypt in 2011. A former banker turned aquapreneur, he is pioneering a movement in aquaponics while hoping to see a rising organic food movement in the rest of the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
    Bustan Aquaponics offers an innovating, modern form of agriculture, which contributes to water conversation, food security, production of clean, healthy food, and zero waste, through efficient reuse and recycling systems.

  • Oscar Ekponimo Founder and CEO, Chowberry

    Named in Time Magazine’s list of 10 Next Generation Leaders 2017, Oscar is the Founder of Chowberry Inc, a technology driven social business that helps retailers cut food waste and improves food accessibility and affordability for disadvantaged households facing food poverty.
    He is a recipient of the prestigious Rolex Award for Enterprise in Applied Technology. For his work on Chowberry which to date has impacted over 20,000 disadvantaged families in Nigeria facing food poverty.

  • Majeda Khouri Chef, Migrateful

    Majeda Khoury is a Syrian national who currently works as a chef at Migrateful, a cookery and language initiative where asylum seekers, refugees and migrants teach their traditional cuisines to the public. Migrateful seeks to address the lack of support provided to asylum seekers, refugees and migrants in their journey to integration. Ms Khoury was exiled from her country as a civil rights activist, having helped feed those who had lost their homes in the war. Before the war broke out in her country, she was a social worker.
