VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENTS
The Southern African Confederation of Agricultural Unions (SACAU) is a regional membership-based organisation representing the common interests of farmers in southern Africa. The organisation is registered in South Africa as a not-for-profit company (NPC), and its Secretariat is located in Centurion, Pretoria, RSA. The organisation is seeking to fill the positions below which are all available immediately.
Note: All positions are open to RSA citizens, as well as citizens of any SADC country who are a permanent resident of RSA or are already in possession of a relevant Work Permit for RSA. Qualifications and experience: University degree (Masters or equivalent) in the field of agronomy, climate sciences, environmental sciences, or a related field; at least 10 years relevant professional experience in the southern African region; experience in working with farmers’ associations or membership-based organisations; at least 5 years in a management position in international development cooperation/assistance; at least 5yrs experience in the area of climate-resilient agriculture; experience in developing practice-oriented agricultural (extension) services; strong conceptual and analytical skills; strong project management skills, including in donor reporting and partnership management; experience in the organisation and moderation of virtual interactions using video conference tools; excellent intercultural and networking skills; capability to document and present complex matters; excellent communication skills (written and oral) in English. Working knowledge of French, Portuguese or German languages will be an added advantage. Involves traveling, from time to time within the region and internationally.
Remuneration package: Negotiable, depending on qualifications and experience Contract Period: 3 years (with the possibility of renewal)
Qualifications and experience: Post graduate qualification in a relevant social science degree; at least 5yrs relevant professional experience in the southern African region; at least 3yrs experience with farmers’ associations or membership-based organisations; at least 3yrs experience in organisational development; experience in strategy development and implementation; experience in organising and moderating virtual interactions using video conference tools; good intercultural and networking skills; capability to document and present complex topics and processes; excellent communication skills (written and oral) in English. Working knowledge of French, Portuguese or German languages will be an added advantage. Involves traveling travel from time to time within the region and internationally.
