Agrinatura is seeking to find a Project Officer for a maternity leave cover by 1st September 2021.

Agrinatura is currently implementing the ‘Value Chain Analysis for Development’ (VCA4D) project.

VCA4D performs value chain analyses across a range of agricultural commodities and countries in order to appraise their contribution to growth and job creation, taking into account the sustainability and inclusiveness of these value chains.

AGRINATURA is the European Alliance on Agricultural Knowledge for Development. It represents the major research and education stakeholders in Europe dealing with agricultural research and higher education for development, grouping together around 30 Universities and Research centres.

Agrinatura is currently implementing the ‘Value Chain Analysis for Development’ (VCA4D) project. VCA4D performs value chain analyses across a range of agricultural commodities and countries in order to appraise their contribution to growth and job creation, taking into account the sustainability and inclusiveness of these value chains.

The project is run by a Project Management Unit (PMU) based in Brussels who is responsible for:

  • Managing the undertaking of value chain analyses using the methods described in the document ‘Methodological Brief. Frame and Tools’, developed under the auspices of DG INTPA;
  • Providing logistical support for the realization of VCAs;
  • Providing scientific support to VCA teams and quality backstopping for reports;
  • Managing knowledge and information generated through value chain analyses;
  • Promoting the establishment of a community of practice in value chain analysis based on the methods used;
  • Facilitating the development of a long-term partnership between DG INTPA and AGRINATURA.

Agrinatura is seeking to find a Project Officer for a maternity leave cover by 1st September 2021.

Job description:

  • Working with DG INTPA, (s)he will support the implementation of the project work plan.
  • Day-to-day projects administration, including scheduling steering group meetings, writing minutes and dissemination of documents.
  • Timely preparation and submission of project reports and supporting documentation.
  • Organising and monitoring of tender procedures for selected activities, such as Serious Games and the implementation of an Information System.
  • Supporting the Scientific Director as necessary, for example, in the organisation events or capacity building activities.

(S)he will be located in Brussels in the offices of the PMU for a fixed period of six months.

The successful candidate is expected to have:

  • A University degree in management or equivalent. Requested skills: communication, organisation. Perfect knowledge of working languages (English and French), knowledge of other “cooperation” languages an asset (Spanish and Portuguese). Perfect IT applications user (min. word, excel, power point, others an asset).
  • Minimum five years of professional experience in areas directly relevant to project management with preferably two years in developing countries.
  • Minimum five years in the field of international cooperation, experience in agriculture an asset.
  • Knowledge of the European Commission’s Development Cooperation operations.

Advantageous:

  • Experience of managing multi-disciplinary research teams
  • Proven ability to plan and budget
  • Experience of working on EC-funded projects
  • Professional experience on value chain analysis (from either social, environmental and/or economic aspects) or agricultural development
