Agrinatura Board Announces New Presidency !!!

December 09th, 2020. – The Board of Directors of the European Alliance on Agriculture knowledge for Development (Agrinatura) today announced its newly elected President, Vice-president and two new members of Board of Directors.

The Secretary General of Agrinatura Association is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Stephen Onakuse, University College Cork, Ireland as the organization’s next President. The position of Vice-President will be taken up by a long-term member of Agrinatura Association board, Petra Chaloupková, Czech University of Life Sciences, Prague. Anja Hansen University of Copenhagen, Denmark, and Miguel de Porras Swiss Research Institute of Organic Agriculture, (FiBL) in Brussels will join the Board of Directors.

Dr. Stephen Onakuse will serve as President-elect until the next General Assembly in 2021 and begin his tenure on May 21, 2021. Petra Chaloupková will enter the position from next General Assembly 2021. Anja Hansen and Miguel de Porras will start immediately.

 

Dr Onakuse is currently a Senior Lecturer in Food Business and Development – Cork University Business School, University College Cork.  He holds a PhD in Food Business and Development, a Master’s Degree in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education and a Post-graduate Degree in Cooperative Organisation Food Marketing and Rural Development, all from University College Cork. In addition, he holds a Master of Science in Environmental Biology (Entomology) from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria and a Bachelor of Agricultural Science Degree from the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Nigeria.

 

Each of them brings to the position a wealth of knowledge and an array of experiences in the field of agriculture and sustainable development on a global level.
The decision was made by the members’ vote that was then ratified by the Board on December 9th 2020.

 

Dr. Chaloupková works currently as a Vice Dean for International Relations and an academic/research staff at the Faculty of Tropical AgriSciences (FTA), the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague (CZU).  She gained her Ph.D. degree at the Institute of Tropics and Subtropics (CZU) in 2007. After her doctoral studies, she started professional career as an academic staff at the FTA (CZU). During the period between 2004 and 2010, she held also simultaneously the position of the Secretary General of Agrinatura. Since 2012, she has been working as a member of the Agrinatura Board of Directors and leading the Project working group. In 2019 the Council of the Prince of Songkla University in Thailand awarded her the Honorary Doctorate Degree in Tropical Agricultural Resource Management.

 

“I am honoured to be elected as the next President of Agrinatura and look forward to working with Agrinatura members, the Association Board of Directors, the Agrinatura European Economic Interest Group (EEIG) Advisory Board, and our many partners throughout the world in our work toward knowledge-based agricultural development.” said Dr. Stephen Onakuse.

 

 

The Board and Secretariat would like to deeply thank the current President Carolyn Glynn, Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences and Vice-President Tim Chancellor, Natural Resources Institute, University of Greenwich, UK for their great leadership in previous years and wish them great continuation and hope for continuous collaboration in the future.
