4TH Colloquium: Let the entrepreneurial genie out of the bottle!
how will we stimulate the nascent entrepreneurial skills of our students?

 

The Colloquium will be held on 21 and 22 June 2018 at the Leuven Institute for Ireland in Europe, Leuven, Belgium

Colloquium focus: The new generation of life sciences graduates is expected to show creativity, resilience, pro-activeness and risk taking while being able to recognise business opportunities: in short entrepreneurship.

The employers of our graduates have the expectation that our graduates will have these entrepreneurial skills but are in general unimpressed by the entrepreneurial skills that our current graduates possess.

The goal of the colloquium is to discuss experiences with integrating entrepreneurship education into life sciences curricula, including assessment, and the type of learning outcomes they may generate. In short, how to stimulate the nascent, embryonic, entrepreneurial skills of our students?

The Colloquium is led by Thomas Lans
Thomas is one of the founding fathers and coordinator of the MSc entrepreneurship track at Wageningen University, which currently hosts about 60 MSc students from all study domains. In his research he studies entrepreneurial learning in workplaces as well as in educational settings, he received a best paper award in 2008 (Journal of Workplace Learning), 2017 (Human Resource Development Quarterly) and a Comenius Fellowship in 2018.

The short Bios of the other keynote speakers can be viewed at the Colloquium website which is accessed from www.ica-europe.info.  The keynote speakers have a wide range of expertise in various aspects of entrepreneurial teaching and students learning which I am sure will stimulate much discussion.
