Due to the current Corona pandemic, the organisers of Tropentag 2020 have decided not to hold the Tropentag in its usual format in Prague in 2020.

ATSAF e.V. (www.atsaf.org) will instead organise a virtual Tropentag Conference in the same period, September 9-11, 2020.

TT20 will essentially be an online conference, with livestream presentations, ideally coming from lecture halls at our main partner universities (with a limited personal attendance of participants active at these sites), parallel sessions organised in form of webinars or similar and pre-recorded oral poster presentations in guided online poster sessions. We will ensure that TT20 attendees will have the possibility to interact with the presenters and chair-persons.

Presenters of accepted oral presentations will have the chance to prepare a talk of 10 minutes, and we will inform you in time if you can give your talk in a livestream or as a pre-recorded video.
All accepted poster presenters will be invited to prepare their poster and pre-record a 3-5 minutes presentation of the key findings and conclusions. These will be organised into thematic poster sessions and be available online.

Apart from oral presentation and poster sessions, we are planning for a special session addressing the topic “Food and nutrition security and its resilience to global crises”. For this – plenary – session we will invite keynote speakers.

All contributions will be accessible in a password protected area, only accessible for TT20 participants. All videos and talks will be deleted latest one week after the conference. Abstracts, short communications and, if authors wish pdf-files of posters, will of course remain accessible in the Proceedings area of the Tropentag website.

The technical details will be clarified in the coming months, and we will inform you accordingly in time. For now, we strongly encourage you to submit your abstract for our conference, if you did not yet do so. The deadline for the submission of abstracts has been extended to May 17, 2020 (24:00 GMT).
All abstracts will be evaluated by a scientific committee as usual, and participants will be informed about acceptance by June 15, 2020.

We know that one of the most important aspects of Tropentag conference is that we meet, discuss, and interact in person, but the current situation doesn’t allow us to do so. Nevertheless, we want to give you, the Tropentag community, an alternative platform to meet and exchange, and we strongly hope that you will join us in this endeavour.

Even a “virtual” Tropentag conference requires some participant fees, to pay for software and the organisation of the sessions. At the moment we can’t specify the height of these fees but will inform you as soon as possible. If you do have questions, and if you do have suggestion on how we could set-up “virtual presentation rooms” etc., please do not hesitate to contact us at info@tropentag.de

And what about Prague? We will definitively have one of our next “live” Tropentag conferences over there!
