SLU and Makerere University invites to Transferable Skills Training and Workshops for senior staff

As part of the project “Innovative Doctoral Education for Global Food Security”, the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (Sweden) and Makerere University (Uganda) invite qualified applicants to participate in the doctoral course Transferable Skills Training for Successful Doctoral Students – Global and Local Perspectives which will take place in Kampala, Uganda from 18 August – 12 September.

 

The course will cover some of the essential skills and competences required for all doctoral students to succeed in their studies, allowing participants to join a regional network while gaining global and local perspectives in an interdisciplinary context. The three main section of the course are as follows:
·         Teaching and learning in higher education
·         Scientific approaches and ethics
·         Information literacy and scientific communication

Where? Makerere University, Kampala, Uganda.
Who can participate? Doctoral Students in the area of Global Food Security (all disciplinary fields) from the following universities will be prioritized:
• Makerere University (Uganda),
• SLU (Sweden),
• National University of Rwanda (Rwanda),
• Sokoine University (Tanzania)
• Jomo Kenyatta University (Kenya).
Applicants from other universities are accepted if places are available. Participants will be selected based on distribution between universities, engagement with issues of global food security and seeking a gender balance.
 
Costs? The project will cover the costs for travel, housing, and meals during the course

Costs? The project will provide financial support for participation in one workshop. Help with organizing lodging, and meals during daytime, will be provided.
