ICA General Assembly (19 October 2022) and 12^th ICA Rectors and Deans Forum (20-21 October 2022) will be held at Vytautas Magnus University Agriculture Academy, in Kaunas, Lithuania.

The ICA Rectors and Deans Forum has two themes: “Bending the Curve for Biodiversity: challenges and opportunities for life science universities & Life science universities addressing Knowledge Security”.

On Thursday (20 October), the Forum will address the challenge of halting the loss of biodiversity. We will discuss how life science universities develop their education, research, and innovation programs and their engagement with society to contribute to the achievement of the EU Biodiversity Strategy and the wider global agendas. The opening address will be given by Virginijus Sinkevičius, European Commissioner for Environment, Oceans, and Fisheries at European Commission.

For the Thursday session, we invite you to make a short 10-minute intervention in Session 2 to address “How my university engages with society through education and outreach to encourage engagement with and enhancement of biodiversity”.

If you are willing to contribute, please send your proposal to ICASecretariat@ica-europe.org by 23 September.

Friday (21 October) morning session will explore the security risks faced by life science universities that endanger the idea of free exchange of science, research, and scientists/students. The session will be chaired by the ICA president, WUR Rector magnificus prof. Arthur Mol.

All the arrangements are in place for a successful face-to-face Forum for Rectors, Deans, senior management from ICA member institutions, and ICA Standing Committees.
