AgrisMundus MS.c. Programme orientation Weekend 2017 was held in Montpellier at SupAgro during period of 16 – 17  September 2017

‘Giving critical thinking tools to MSc students to criticaly assess the conditions’

 

AgrisMundus was established by 5 European universities (Copenhagen, Catania, Madrid, Wageningen, Montpellier) 12 years ago to respond food security issues. The Agris Mundus master course is also associated with 25 Associated partners (Cooperation) all over the world, which have competences in sustainable agriculture and food systems and with whom the strong collaboration in research, exchange of students or capacity building has been established. This European Master of Science programme as a part of Erasmus Mundus is focused on Sustainable Development in Agriculture and its relted topics.

New batch n. 12 of incoming students participated at 2 days orientation weekend in Montpellier SupAgro in Montpellier, France. M.Sc. Students have been informed about the history of the AgrisMundus Progrmme by Didier Pillot (SupAgro), objectives and current updates and news within the programme. The morning session was followed by presentation of Agtrain students and students who already started AgrisMundus programme a year ago sharing their experiences with studies and with their master thesis research. In the afternoon, all students challenged Via Ferrata du Thauriac in aim to strenghten their reltionships and teambuilding capacities. More pictures see here.

 

The other day of the orientation weekend new incoming students were informed about the tips and trics for course year in UPM in Madrid as UPM (Madrid) is one of the universities where current and new incoming students are studying or will study. This was followed by presentation of one of AgTrain Ph.D. formed student, Anna Snider, who  shared her experiences about voluntary consultation at as an independent consultant in farmers’ organizations, sustainable agriculture development and livelihoods at Winrock International.

In the end of the session, students got an opportunity to attend students annual conference  focused on tropical agriculture, Tropentag, in Gent, Belgium, the next year to present their research. In accordance to this, Agrinatura offeres 300 EUR travel grants for students to attend the event and present their research. Students were introduced with the procedure how to apply and conditions. Also, the possibility to get financial support to go to some Agrinatura partners universities and develop their master thesis in tandem with SE Asian students within the FSCC project developed by Agrinatura and its European and SE Asian partners.
